Geysir
High-value glass for cold climates
Geysir is clear float glass treated with a low-emissivity (low-E) coating on the outside of the greenhouse. This pyrolytic coating is applied online during the float glass production process and is extremely durable. Thanks to the coating’s low emissivity, the heat generated is kept inside the greenhouse, resulting in a significant reduction in the amount of energy consumed to heat the greenhouse.
This glass is then sandwiched between two durable anti-reflective (AR) coatings to maximise hemispherical light transmission and protect the glass from corrosion.
Benefits
Low-emissivity and anti-reflective coatings
The low-E coating keeps the heat inside the greenhouse by reflecting far-infrared heat back into the greenhouse. As a result, growers enjoy energy savings of up to 22.2% combined with high hemispherical transmission.
Low condensation and high relative humidity
Since the low-E coating is positioned on the outside of the greenhouse, the glass becomes warmer due to the reflected heat. Consequently, there is less condensation on the glass.
Highly durable AR and low-E coatings
Our anti-reflective low-E coatings protect the glass from the corrosion that is very likely to occur on surfaces regularly exposed to water, while also delivering long-lasting performance since it is highly resistant to mechanical and chemical cleaning.
No trapped heat in summer
The conversion of solar heat to far-infrared radiation can cause significant trapped heat in summer when low-E glass is used. Whitewashing the low-E coating disables this function as long as the whitewash is on the glass.
